MagniFinance is the winner of the Caixa Empreender Award and we can say it proudly! The Portuguese startup, who was part of the previous edition of Lisbon Challenge, won the €100.000 investment from Caixa Capital. Adding this to the previous investment they got from Caixa Capital last week they now have €200.000 in order to expand and improve their product. If you haven’t heard of them before, you will. We’re pretty sure this is just the beginning for this awesome talented team…

MagniFinance, who promises to reduce the time that companies spend managing their finances to just 5 daily minutes, was running up against top startups and projects from other accelerators at Caixa Empreender. However, after rocking the stage with an insightful pitch and after a long cheer and applause (yes, the Beta-i team had something to do with that), this talented team took the big check of €100.000 home. When climbing up to the stage to receive the award, Jorge from MagniFinance was clear to point out “Oh I’m not the leader, we’re a flat organisation”, in response to the kind words of the host. The Lisbon Challenge and Beta-i team couldn’t have been more proud.

The Caixa Empreender Award was one of the top startup events of the year. Organised by our partner Caixa Capital, the event was definitely a blast. Startups were pitching for an audience of eager entrepreneurs and top investors. Even Mike Butcher, editor at Tech Crunch, was there to see some of the best startups in Portugal and to witness the growth of the Portuguese startup ecosystem. In the end, he even tweeted about the winner! Does this mean MagniFinance will be featured in Tech Crunch, Mike? We sure hope so

The overall investment by Caixa Capital is now 200K (they had the first 100K last week) and we can pretty much assume they won’t have any problem managing their finances…
