8 reasons why you shouldn’t miss #LIS15 - Lisbon Investment Summit

Every year for the past 2 years we’ve been putting together this event, the Lisbon Investment Summit, for investors, entrepreneurs and all those interested in pushing the Portuguese startup scene forward. We have a strong community to back us up, disruptive startups to showcase and an inspiring youth with a restless mentality who’d rather think of game-changing ideas than settling for comfortable.

So, this year, the Lisbon Investment Summit will be different.

Let’s be restless, let’s embrace the unexpected and let’s bring people together. There’s definitely something happening in Lisbon, and it’s time for the world to know. Here’s why you shouldn’t miss it:

1. No boundaries - walk around, go on stage and talk to people

Forget the spotlight. There will be no boundaries. #LIS15 - Lisbon Investment Summit will take a place at Palácio de Pombal by Carpe Diem and you’ll get to explore every single room, every single corner. It will be an interactive event where both speakers and attendees will get to talk and share their stories. Walk around the palace across the different spaces, meet interesting people, participate in workshops, enjoy the music and Portuguese food and get to know the best tech startups. All doors are open, you just got to choose which one you’ll enter.

2. Workshops for entrepreneurs - learn with the experts

We all learn a bunch of stuff during events by listening to talks and panels but we rarely get the chance to put it into practice. So, for this edition, we’re embracing the learn by doing motto. We’ll have interesting workshops on how to create and manage your own startup. Learn more about Growth Hacking with Casey Armstrong (also known as the full stack marketer) and Patrick Vlaskovits (best selling author by the New York Times) for example. At the Lisbon Investment Summit you won’t just sit back and listen - you’ll get things done.

3. Inspiring speakers from companies like NASA, 500 Startups and Grooveshark

We’ve been planning this event for quite some time now and we haven’t left anything to chance. At #LIS15, you’ll get the chance to meet many talented entrepreneurs and investors from Portugal and abroad. Some of the speakers include: Gary Martin, director of partnerships at NASA, Andres Barreto, co-founder of Grooveshark, Alexandre Barbosa, managing director at Faber Ventures, James Cameron, investor at Accel Partners, Stephan Morais, president at Caixa Capital, Tristan Pollock, entrepreneur in residence at 500 Startups, Nuno Sebastião, CEO at Feedzai and much more!

4. Meet the speakers - book your one on ones

For the first time on the Lisbon Investment Summit you’ll get to meet the speakers by scheduling one on ones. If you have a startup and if you’re looking for some feedback, mentoring or even investment you can apply to these one on ones and ask all the questions you want. Don’t let this great opportunity go to waste… Fill in this form!

5. Get to know the Portuguese startup community

Everyone is talking about Lisbon and its growing startup scene, so we decided to take a step further. For the Lisbon Investment Summit, we’re bringing the world to Lisbon with many international speakers and attendees. But more importantly we’re bringing the whole startup community together with all our friends and partners. Meet talented people who really got the startup movement in Portugal started, such as Miguel Amaro from Uniplaces or Nuno Sebastião from Feedzai. From Beta-i to Startup Lisboa, from Lisbon’s City Hall to VCs like Caixa Capital, Portugal Ventures and Faber Ventures, Portugal is taking the startup world by storm.

6. Spend 2 days in a historical palace that is actually one of Lisbon’s hidden gems

#LIS15 will take place at Palácio de Pombal by Carpe Diem, right in Lisbon’s historical centre. With the Lisbon Investment Summit, we are connecting the glorious past of Portuguese history with the bold and innovative future of startups. The Palácio de Pombal is one of Lisbon’s hidden gems and you’ll get to explore every corner on June the 4th and the 5th. Dive into Portuguese culture and meet the startups of the future.

7. Listen to all the pitches by the Lisbon Challenge startups

The Lisbon Challenge Spring’15 startups will pitch at the Lisbon Investment Summit. This will be the final test for the startups and the end of the 3 month accelerator program. From an online community for extreme sports to a device which can measure how much your fridge or washing machine is spending in electricity, these startups have worked really hard to present you creative and useful solutions to common problems. They’ve been perfecting the art of pitching and you’ll get to see that on #LIS15.

8. Party with us!

In the end of all this you’ll get the party you deserve. We’re setting up a real typical Portuguese summer party. There will be a barbecue, sardines, drinks and music in the garden of the palace and you’re all invited.

Needless to say that this is going to be a memorable event and we are really looking forward to bringing together the whole startup community in Portugal. Get your tickets here before we run out of space (for previous editions tickets have always sold out). Make sure you don’t miss it!
